A Drone, oh what fun

If you’re a friend of mine on facebook, then you may be sick of seeing drone videos. If you’re not, I got one last week and have been posting videos everyday. A few of them, maybe too many of them.

Today I thought I would post the video here. In fact, so I don’t “blow up” my facebook page with videos I made a channel on youtube.com!

This video, as you will see was shot at Greenwood Furnace State Park. I only had about 15 minutes to shoot the video, so I only flew around the actual dam.

As for the drone part, I have been talking to my wife about getting the drone for months, putting back some money here and there until we could do it. I think I like it because I can go places or see things from a different perspective.  It has been fun, so far, but I fly in a little bit of fear. When you send the drone out for the first time and it get just to the point of just being able to see it, you think “what if this goes down?”.  I should say I fly with respect and fear in hopes of not crashing.

Video editing is something I’ve been wanting to learn. I have played around with Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effect, but never had enough video to get good at it. This will, I hope give me a reason to dig deeper into the programs. I’m not sure if it is a problem or not but the drone does shoot 4k video. That means lots of hard drive space gets eaten up each time I try to edit something.

I have taken an online drone class offered through the FAA. I am in the process of studying for a test to get a license to fly the drone commercially. In other words try to make it a bit of a business. It’s another case of “what do you want to be when you grow up?” syndrome.  I hope to have the commercial drone license in a month or less. As always if you need a DJ, Photographer, Artist, Karaoke, Caricature.. well contact me!
